The town of Pula is located on the height above sea-level of about 30 m, at the southwest part of the Istrian peninsula, and is developed under and on seven hills (Arena, St. Martin, St. Michael’s abbey, Kaštel, Zaro, Mondipola and Pra Grande).
Today, the area of the town of Pula is 5.165 ha, 4.150 ha of which are on the land and 1.015 ha on the sea.

The beginnings of the economic development of the town of Pula as the most developed economic centre of the Istrian County were in the ship building. The ship building industry of Pula today is established on the world ship building market.
The population density of the town of Pula is 1,093.27 inhabitants/km2 and it is the fifth town by the population density in Croatia.
About three thousand years ago on the hill where Kaštel is today the first hill-fort settlement was founded, the Histria fortification. Nothing is preserved from the prehistorical hill-fort except for the circular form of two main streets. The true town history begins with the Romans. The official name of the town was Colonia Pietas Iulia Pola, and it had all the functions and buildings typical for a Roman settlers’ colony.

Amphitheatre - ARENA

The Amphitheatre of Pula, the biggest and well-preserved monument of the antique architecture in Croatia, was built in the mid 1st century BC.

Gladiator and knight fights were taking place in it, fights with wild beasts and other performances which were the most important social happenings in the antique world. It was built outside the town walls, near the town, along the main road Via Flavia which led from Pula to Aquileia and Rome, and it could take in up to 25,000 spectators.

Temples and basilica at the forum

August’s temple, the remains of Diana’s temple, Capitolium and Basilica, integrated into the medieval Municipal palace, is the most
significant architectural framework of the historical core of Pula, the only one preserved in Croatia and very rare in Europe.

The centre of Roman towns consisted of forums dominated by temples and basilicas, and they were the most important social space, a place for the people to gather. The Forum of Pula was divided into a lower plebeian and a higher patrician part – a raised plato around the temples, and also Roman walls and Roman doors, Venetian fortress and a number of other beautiful buildings and cultural-historical buildings. Therefore, our Villa Arena and Laguna that we are building for you will also be an expression of the beauty of living in the present and future, on the basis of our work and orientation towards a buyer in the past.

The biggest town on the Istrian peninsula offers various attractions to cultural enthusiasts. A rich itinerary along the three-thousand year long history of Pula, which is confirmed in each step in the Old Town, begins and ends with the Roman amphitheatre.

Walking around Pula you will notice many monuments of the Roman architecture: Triumphal arch of Sergijevci from the 1st century BC, Hercules’s and Double doors, August’s temple and a Small Roman Theatre in the centre of town. A rest on the main town square, Forum, which kept its gathering function from the time of the August emperor, will be a special experience.

The real tourist aces of Pula are certainly 190 kilometres of well-indented coast, crystal clear sea and available beaches of choice: stone-surfaces or pebbles accessible to all ages, especially to families with children, or “wild” beaches, hidden by the untouched vegetation for the lovers of privacy and intimacy

Meteorological conditions in the town of Pula
